WELCOME TO THE CONFOCAL AND LIGHT MICROSCOPE IMAGING FACILITY
The Confocal and Light Microscope Facility is a modern interfaculty unit which provides a service relating to light and fluorescence microscopy, including the new LSM confocal microscope. The unit specialises in advanced fluorescence imaging acquisition and image analysis supported by computer workstations equipped with state of the art software.
The facility is located on the third level of the Anatomy building, rooms 3.14 & 3.18 on the Medical campus. Three staff members with various fields of expertise are available to give technical and expert assistance to users.
The Confocal and Light Microscope Facility was created with the arrival of the new Zeiss LSM 510 Meta confocal microscope to introduce researchers to an advanced level of fluorescence microscopy not only for the University of Cape Town, but also for users from institutions, both academic and corporate, of the Western Cape and other regions.
Enquiries regarding use of the facility from members both of the university and other institutions are welcome.
